I don't have time for this
I'm writing this down in the hopes that, having been thusly purged, my brain will shut the hell up about it.
The Unforgivable Club
It started innocently enough. Ravenclaw thirst for knowledge taking an innocent-curiosity kink in a darker direction meets stories that the great Harry Potter, in his fight against Voldemort, used Unforgivables. A reading circle and study group with a penchant for reading about disused spells starts to conduct tiny and extremely controlled experiments. Some people leave, but more people join. The practice deepens. Early in their seventh year, the Club starts experimenting with Unforgivables. Just imperio at first, investigating resistances and counter-resistances, relations to tasks ordered... all very scientific. It perhaps gets a little less so. They move on to crucio, on animals and then on each other.
The night they begin experiments with the avada (on ANIMALS!) something goes terribly wrong, and one of their members winds up dead.
This is where the game begins, in the immediate aftermath, though backstory/play is absolutely encouraged. The point is reactions and the effects of this incredible stress on all the people involved, directly and peripherally.
Like so: - present-day (i.e. 2009, between Trio and next-gen era, utilising canon names and references but not directly involved) - the member who dies will be one of the Slytherins (and a girl?) - she will be played by me the mod, along with teachers and any law enforcement types that show up (otherwise, no "mod chars") - Club will be, say, 3 Ravenclaws, 3 Slyths (including the deceased), 2 Gryffs and a Puff - every member must have been "brought in" by an existing member (timeline?) - most members should have some "motive" for potentially wishing the deceased harm - another handful of people who left the Club at some point in its history - a further handful who may know about it somehow - the rest are just poor innocent schmoes (degrees of suspecting that "something" is going on?)
Um? - To what degree is this a murder mystery? Who knows whodunnit? Just the perpetrator? All the Club players? Everyone? - How is what actually happened decided? Wait for a volunteer? Ask for volunteers in the "Club" section of the app and then pick one at random/by design? Decree it from the get-go? - You want to maybe think about direction before it gets completely out of hand and everyone ends up arrested? (No, because I'm not actually doing this!) - No, you can't have the Aurors who show up to investigate played by Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson circa Judas Kiss, no matter how funny you think that is. - Maaaybe you can have Tony and Ziva. - Seriously though, would sending Harry/Ron/Neville/all of the above be feasible?
